What is Fractionated Coconut Oil?
In both our Cast Iron Oil and Cutting Board Oil we are using fractionated coconut oil, but what does fractionated coconut oil actually mean and why did we choose to use that for maintaining your wooden utensils and cast irons?
Fractionated Coconut oil
Coconut oils are refined using a refractionation process, which is another way of saying that the oils have been steam distilled. During this distillation process, coconut oil is separated so that the long-chain triglycerides (LCT) are removed and only the medium chain triglycerides (MCT) are left.
This leaves an almost pure oil that will NOT go rancid, is shelf stable and is superior to most other oils for treating not just cutting boards, but your kitchen utensils, salad bowls, countertops and of course all types of cast irons.*
The great thing about Coconut oil is also that it’s nut-free and 100% pure and naturally sourced compare to other often-recommended Walnut, Almond or Flaxseed oils. Many of these oils contains a lot of unnecessary ingredients that could be a health hazard. So Stay PURE and try our Cast Iron and Cutting Board Oil:
